Squaw Lake State Forest Campground
Fishing
Squaw Lake (on site): Rainbow Trout, Splake, Bluegill, Perch, and Bass.
Horseshoe Lake (4 miles East): Panfish, Pike, Bluegill, an Bass.
Twin Lakes (3 miles South): Brown Trout and Smallmouth Bass.
Hiking
West Branch Pathway (13 miles South): 1.4 miles of rolling terrain with trail head at West Branch State Forest Campground. Hiking and mountain biking.
Off-Road Vehicle Trails/Routes
Porterfield Lake Motorcycle Trail (9 miles East): 22 miles of motorcycle trail.
Watchable Wildlife
Moose released in the western Upper Peninsula in the 1980's now constitute a thriving free-ranging herd. Moose, as well as deer, black bears, coyotes, foxes and more can be seen throughout the forested areas of this region. Information on the moose reintroduction and driving tour routes can be obtained at Van Riper State Park (22 miles North).
Boat Launch
Ramp access on site and at Horseshoe Lake. Carry-in access at Twin Lakes.
