 | | Bald Mountain Recreation Area | | Cross Country Ski Eight miles of trails in the north unit are groomed for this use. | Fishing Graham Lake in the north draws the most anglers. Trout Creek and Paint Creek are designated trout streams. Panfish, northern pike and largemouth bass can be found in all lakes. Two universally accessible piers makes fishing available to everyone. One pier is located East Graham and one at Lower Trout Lake. | Hiking Contains some of the steepest hills and most rugged terrains in southeast Michigan. Fifteen miles of marked hiking trails. | Hunting The park is open to hunting and trapping during regular seasons from September 15 to March 31. Species with excellent to good hunting include goose, deer, rabbit, squirrel, woodcock, duck, raccoon and woodchuck. Partridge, pheasant and turkey seasons have not been as successful. Trapping success for muskrat, mink and beaver has been noted. | Interpretive Programs For more information, please call the park at (248) 693-6767. | Metal Detecting Metal detecting is recognized as a legitimate recreation activity when it is conducted in ways that do not damage the natural and cultural resources in Michigan State Parks nor violate applicable state statutes. If you wish to use a metal detector in this state park, here is a map that shows clearly where this activity may take place. Any items found must be reviewed by park staff and may be retained for further investigation. | Mountain Biking Nearly 15 miles of trails are available in two parcels. To the north, the Green, White, Blue and Orange trails are shared with hikers. Parking and trails can be accessed from Lake George, Premore, Miller and Harmon roads. To the south, the Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Green and White trails, also shared with hikers, can be accessed from Greenshield and Kern roads. Mountain bikes are discouraged while trails are snow-covered to make way for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. | Paddling The north unit lakes are small and not condusive to major powerboating, making them popular among canoers and kayakers. | Snowmobiling Seven miles of trails are available in the south end of the park for this winter recreation opportunity. | Swimming This sandy beach located on Lower Trout Lake was honored in 1986 as Detroit Monthly's "Best of Detroit" award. |
