Muskegon River (on site): Panfish and Bass.
Houghton Lake (5 miles East): Pike, Panfish, Bass, and Walleye.
Higgins Lake (11 miles NE): Splake, Rainbow Trout, Panfish, Pike, and Bass.

Leota ATV Trail (16 miles South): 56 miles of cycle/ATV trail.
Paddling
Canoeing opportunities on the Muskegon River. Closest canoe rental in Falmouth (21 miles SW).
Watchable Wildlife
Dead Stream Flooding is one of the largest managed wetlands in the Lower Peninsula including Dead Stream Swamp which is the Lower Peninsula's largest semi-wilderness area. The area is teaming with waterfowl such as mallards, goldeneyes, buffleheads, as well as bald eagles and osprey. No motors of any kind are permitted in the swamp.
Boat Launch
Boat launch on site. Universally accessible ramps at Houghton Lake State Forest Campground and at Higgins Lake.
