  • Welcome Inside

Welcome to Inside Michigan’s Great Outdoors, the first edition of a quarterly e-newsletter introducing the natural, cultural and historic resources of the state parks and recreation system. This vast, diverse network includes state parks, recreation areas, harbors, boating access sites, scenic sites, lighthouses and more.

Though we encourage everyone to GO-Get Outdoors and experience Michigan’s natural resources, this publication is called Inside because it invites you to the inside track on the abundant resources for you to enjoy today and share with future generations.

    One Tank Trips

With 97 state parks and recreation areas throughout Michigan, you’re never more than an hour away from some of best outdoor recreation opportunities in the state. You don’t have to spend a fortune on gasoline to enjoy the great outdoors. Whether it’s camping, biking, hiking, boating, canoeing or picnicking, follow the links to find out how to discover outdoor fun less than one tank away.

    Accessible for All

Outdoor recreation plays a significant role in the quality of life that Michigan citizens enjoy. Before the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), relatively few recreation facilities and services were accessible to persons with disabilities.
